 Curriculum & Philosophy

Noon Academy students benefit from small class sizes of 10 to 12 students. We have a balanced approach towards curriculum implementation with an equal focus on core knowledge acquisition and emergent curricula, shaped by student interest and ideas.

We seek to ambitiously achieve this healthy balance by setting goals with high expectations for our students – expecting them to go above and beyond the provincial standards while also emphasizing social, emotional, spiritual, and physical development, in order for them to thoroughly flourish.

As a result of our low student-teacher ratio, teachers are able to carefully monitor each child’s overall progress and well-being to foster continued growth. As a collective team, each member works diligently to ensure students feel valued for who they are and what they have to offer. This strong emotional foundation forms the core of healthy social development, high academic pursuit, and ever-increasing self-knowledge.

Studies have proven that positive experiences in early childhood set the foundations for lifelong learning, behaviour, health, and well-being. Noon Academy’s FDK program is child-centered and developmentally appropriate, offering a full day of integrated play- and inquiry-based learning for children aged four and five.

In line with the Ontario FDK Curriculum guidelines, our program is organized around four frames that focus on the aspects of learning that are critical to young children’s development: Belonging and Contributing, Self-Regulation and Well-Being, Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviour, and Problem Solving and Innovating.

Islamic principles, values and beliefs are integrated into our daily program to aid our students in establishing a sincere and meaningful connection to Allah and their religion.

Grade 1-8

Spiritual development, self-awareness, confidence, and accountability become increasingly important as students transition from primary to intermediate grade divisions. Our elementary program provides a supportive and consistent environment in line with the Ontario Elementary Curriculum guidelines and the standards and recommendations of current and ongoing pedological research.

Noon Academy provides a supportive environment where academic performance is central; however, our driving focus is on instilling a love of learning and life-long curiosity of the world around us. We are highly responsive to the individual learning pace of our students. Differentiation, both in instruction and assessment, and individual goal setting are especially important at the elementary grade levels. Our qualified and experienced teachers focus on providing engaging and student-centered programs that encourage and support our students to explore a wide range of topics and learning experiences that challenges them appropriately.

Our program combines a focus on developing the foundational knowledge and skills needed to succeed academically with building students’ understanding of themselves as a learner - to promote the independence and confidence need to succeed in secondary and post-secondary education.
